Talents and the city
A brief talk to explore the new opportunities offered by the Municipality of Parma

Easy Parma is the program promoted by the Municipality of Parma to attract and retain international professionals, students, and researchers interested in living, studying, and working in the city. The initiative follows a comprehensive and dynamic approach: from promoting the local context and its opportunities, to welcoming Italian and international talents into the community, and supporting their long-term engagement and professional growth.
We spoke with the Easy Parma team to learn more about their vision and ongoing activities. Here is the interview!
What strategies or programmes are you implementing to attract and retain talent?
We are developing Parma Talenti, a city-wide talent ecosystem designed to make Parma one of the most welcoming and future-oriented places for young and international professionals. Our strategy combines three pillars: a digital platform (Easy Parma) offering orientation and services; a Talent Welcome Kit co-designed with universities, companies, and public institutions; and a city agenda of events and opportunities that connect people to the cultural, professional, and civic life of Parma. We work with an intergenerational approach, blending local roots with global openness, and creating pathways that strengthen both attraction and long-term retention.
Which kind of services do you offer to talents?
Through Easy Parma, we provide a comprehensive set of services covering housing orientation, bureaucratic and administrative guidance, support for mobility and transport options, and curated information on culture, leisure, and community life. The platform acts as a multi-entry point to the city, helping talents navigate practical needs while also discovering opportunities for personal growth and social belonging. We are also developing thematic “pathways” for international arrivals, students, and young professionals to help them settle smoothly and feel connected from day one.
Do you offer support to the families of international professionals?
Yes. As part of the Parma Talenti strategy, we are designing services specifically aimed at supporting the families of international professionals. This includes guidance on school enrolment, connections with local family services, access to cultural and community networks, and collaboration with employment agencies to explore career opportunities for partners. Our approach is to strengthen the entire family ecosystem, making Parma not only a place to work but also a place to live and thrive for all its members.
What are the main resources or tools you use?
Our main tools are the Easy Parma digital platform, the official communication channels of the Municipality of Parma, and a growing network of partners across the region. The platform hosts guides, maps, service directories, and practical tools designed specifically for newcomers and emerging talents.
How do you collaborate with local institutions to facilitate the matching of trainees and professionals?
We work closely with the Università di Parma, regional institutions, innovation centres, and local companies to co-design pathways and opportunities for trainees and young professionals. This includes talent workshops, co-created events, onboarding activities, and thematic working groups where public and private stakeholders align needs, skills, and opportunities. Our collaborative model makes the city an active actor in talent development, ensuring that newcomers can connect quickly with organisations that appreciate their skills and potential.
