Innovation and participation: live an active community and try Reggio Emilia in April

In past years, also due to the pandemic, the habits of human beings have changed strongly and rapidly. This change has impacted the way everyone experiences their home environment, their neighborhood, their city and even their community of reference.

Understanding the needs of the communities and shaping the services and the environment accordingly is very important to make a territory attractive and welcoming.

This is the aim of the Urban Economy fields! To study the ways in which interactions between people and services can a medium to create services and infrastructure that meet the needs of societies which over the years have changed their own habits of living, consuming, networking and use commercial services and cultural aggregation centers.

But, who are the protagonists of these new communities? What professions and skills are needed to actively collaborate in shaping their change?

Analyzing the Skills Intelligence Emilia-Romagna data concerning the sector, it is interesting to observe that, from January 2023 to December 2023, were published 639 online job advertisements, i.e. 0,16% of the total online advertisements offered in the regional territory, with a decrease of 14,8% compared to the previous year.

Generally speaking, it is possible to note that the data are not as rich as those of the other Clust-er, this is because the Clust-ER was created only last year and the topic is quite complex. We can still have a look at the most sought after categories (ESCO level 1): Professionals (20,2%), followed by Technicians and associate professionals (19,4%) and Craft and related trades workers (17,5%).

However, it is important to also delve deeper into the skills and profiles most sought after at more specialized levels.

The five most sought after professional profiles (ESCO level 4) of the Professionals (ESCO level 1)

Taking into consideration only the group of Professionals (ESCO level 1), the top most sought after professional profiles (ESCO level 4) are:

  1. Engineering professionals – 100% of the total ads in E-R.

As can be imagined this is a profile with a HIGH difficulty to retrieve according to the Excelsior classification.

This means that in Emilia-Romagna there is a very strong need for Engineering Professionals, but the profiles necessary to fill this gap are lacking.
