A green August: sustainability and green transition in Piacenza

The green transition is, together with the digital one, one of the hot topics of recent years. All sectors, in different ways, must face this transition which impacts the business world in a transversal way. Consequently, the needs of companies are also changing with regards to the necessary skills and profiles.

To meet the transformations that characterise this transition, Emilia-Romagna is investing heavily to help local businesses and talents keep up with the times.

Analysing the data of Skills Intelligence Emilia-Romagna of the greentech sector, it is interesting to observe that, from April 2023 to March 2024 were published 27.313 online job advertisements, i.e. 4,78% of the total online advertisements offered in the regional territory, with a decrease of 7,6% compared to the previous year.

Generally speaking, it is possible to note that the most sought after profiles, considering the ESCO level 1 categories, belong to Professionals (57,2%), Technicians and associate professionals (13,8%) and Craft and related trades workers (7,4%).

The five most sought after professional profiles (ESCO level 4) of the Professionals (ESCO level 1)
It is important to also delve into the most sought-after skills and profiles at specialised levels.

Taking into consideration only the group of Professionals (ESCO level 1), the top five most sought after professional profiles (ESCO level 4) are:

1. management and organization analysts - 36,4% of the total ads in E-R;

2. industrial and production engineers - 35,1%;

3. engineering professionals - 6,7%;

4. systems analysts - 2,8%;

5. chemical engineers - 2,5%.

Of these, all the profiles, apart from the first and the last one, are profiles with HIGH difficulty of finding. This means that in Emilia-Romagna there is a need for these professions, but the profiles necessary to fill this gap are lacking.

In the province of Piacenza, specifically, the most sought after professional profiles (ESCO level 4) are:

1. industrial and production engineers - 319 in the last 12 months;

2. management and organization analysts;

3. chemical engineers;

4. engineering professionals;

5. chemists.

What does it mean?
It means that if you have a professional profile that falls within those listed above, the province of Piacenza could be the city for you.

If, however, your profile is not yet among the most sought after, but you would like to delve deeper into the greentech sector, you can find many training opportunities, also because Emilia-Romagna invests in talent, with over 30 courses for new graduates on big data and green transition, these are the best in the region:

Did you know? In 2023 the University of Bologna came 12th in the list of the best universities in the world (and has been confirmed as first in Italy for years now) for attention to environmental sustainability! The ranking is certified by GreenMetric, the ranking that evaluates the green policies and actions implemented by universities globally.
