Cities for Talent Meeting 2025

Bologna at the heart of the European dialogue on talent attraction

locandina

From 28 to 30 October 2025 Bologna will host the Cities for Talent Meeting, an international event organised by the Metropolitan City and the Municipality of Bologna - through the Bologna for Talent service - & ART-ER, dedicated to sharing practices and strategies for attracting and developing talent at the urban and European level.

The meeting offers an opportunity to strengthen cooperation among European cities and to foster a concrete dialogue on local talent policies, with a particular focus on welcoming international professionals, supporting professional mobility, and creating attractive living and working environments for highly skilled individuals.

Three days of dialogue and collaboration

  • Tuesday 28 October – DAMA Technopole
An introductory day featuring a study visit focused on innovation and entrepreneurship, showcasing the organisations that contribute to Bologna’s position as a European hub for research and development.

  • Wednesday 29 October – Salaborsa, Auditorium Biagi
The day will be dedicated to thematic working groups on four key areas:

  1. Investment and talent
  2. Data use for talent attraction and retention
  3. Talent and entrepreneurship
  4. Spouse programme and territorial integration

Each working group, led by European city leaders, will aim to exchange experiences, identify good practices, and develop shared recommendations.

  • Thursday 30 October – Filla, Parco della Montagnola
The final day will feature the plenary session, presenting the outcomes of the working groups and the most significant best practices. It will be a moment of collective reflection on local policies and on future collaborations among European cities.

A European network for talent

The Cities for Talent Meeting is part of the International Talent Network (ITN), a European network of cities committed to promoting shared policies for attracting and retaining international talent.

This initiative represents a significant step in this joint path, strengthening collaboration among European partners in the fields of talent mobility, territorial innovation, and social inclusion.

Within this framework, Bologna and the Emilia-Romagna Region reaffirm their commitment to enhancing people and skills, supported by Regional Law No. 2 of 14 February 2023, “Attracting, valuing and promoting highly specialised talent in Emilia-Romagna.”
