16 new university courses in Emilia-Romagna

Big data, innovation, health and media education: 16 new university courses in Emilia-Romagna from the 2023/2024 academic year

Confirming the trend also for the 2023/2024 academic year, the Regional government and the Emilia-Romagna Universities are strengthening the study offer by focusing on courses involving innovation, sustainability and skills for the Food and Data Valley. Furthermore, six courses out of sixteen (four in Bologna and two in Modena-Reggio Emilia) will be held in English.

Eight new courses will be offered by the University of Bologna, four by the University of Parma, three by the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and one by the University of Ferrara.

Eight new study courses will start at the University of Bologna:

  • the master's degree in "Plant agricultural biotechnology" (Imola site) to train professionals with specific skills for industry and/or institutions of excellence operating in the seed-nursery sector and botanical-pharmaceutical-cosmetic ones
  • the master's degree in “Economics and Public Policy” (Forlì campus)
  • the master's degree in “Business Administration and sustainability” (Forlì campus)
  • the master's degree in “Service Management” (Rimini campus)
  • the three-year degree in “International Studies” (Forlì campus)
  • the three-year degree in "Data, methods and models for Linguistic Sciences" which trains expert scholars in the automatic processing of natural languages, lexicographers, linguistic consultants
  • the three-year degree in "Polymer composite materials" (Imola site) with a professional orientation
  • the three-year degree in "Materials Science" (Bologna campus) to acquire solid preparation and technical-scientific skills of an interdisciplinary nature in the physics and chemistry fields

For the University of Parma, the new courses are:

  • the three-year degree in "Italian Sign Language Interpreter and Italian Tactile Sign Language Interpreter", with a professional orientation
  • the three-year degree in "Professional education"r
  • the three-year professionally orientated degree in “Technologies and Management of the Dairy Enterprise (inter-university degree with the University of Milan)
  • the three-year degree in "Gastronomic Sciences"
  • the international three-year degree in Dental Hygiene will also be activated, pertaining to the Department of Medicine and Surgery and qualifying for the health profession of dental hygienist.

For the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, the new courses are:

  • the master's degrees in "Theories and methodologies of digital learning" (in Reggio Emilia), which intends to train the pedagogist expert in the planning, organisation, management and evaluation of training and socio-educational services, including the use of media and digital technologies
  • “Artificial Intelligence Engineering” (in Modena) 
  • “Engineering for Industrial Sustainability” (in Carpi). This course was born from the joint effort of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, the Cassa di Risparmio di Carpi Foundation and the Municipality of Carpi, as well as from the cultural, scientific and technological needs of the companies of the territory. 

For the University of Ferrara, the new course will be the master's degree in "Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Big Data", to train professionals with a solid background of theoretical knowledge, capable of operating in various fields, from industrial to medical and health.
