The ICity Rank 2021 report by FPA was presented at FORUM PA City, which shows the picture on the digitization status of the 107 Italian municipalities.

The research evaluates the positioning of the italian cities in the digital transformation index, obtained from the arithmetic average of 8 sectoral indices such as online availability of public services, availability of public utility apps, integration of digital platforms, use of social media, release of open data, transparency, implementation of public wifi networks and dissemination of network technologies. Moreover,  the study was performed through 36 indicators based on 130 variables and about 14,000 elementary data almost entirely the result of FPA surveys carried out in the current year.

Bologna on the podium

Florence is confirmed as the most digital capital of Italy for the second year in a row, followed by Milan (2nd place) and Bologna (3rd place).

Bologna got 854 points mainly thanks to the results in social networks and in the IOT and network technologies.

Two Emilian cities in the top 10

Other two Emilian cities rank in the top 10 : Modena (5th) and Parma (10th). They are both increasingly protagonists of innovation processes.

Immediately after the top ten cities, we find in the ranking Reggio Emilia (11th) and Rimini (16th). These cities stand out for having obtained good results and positioning in all the sectoral indices covered by the research.
