Great success for the "Technopoles Study Visits": over 100 students discover the Romagna Technopoles
The cycle of guided visits to Romagna's Technopoles, an initiative that allowed numerous university students and PhD students to explore the territory's research and innovation excellence up close, has come to an enthusiastic conclusion

Spring 2025 marked an important moment of connection between academia and applied innovation in Romagna, thanks to the "Technopoles Study Visits" initiative. Born from the fruitful collaboration between ART-ER, ER.GO, the Flaminia Foundation, Serinar and UniRimini, the initiative offered university students and PhD students, both Italian and international, a unique opportunity to come into direct contact with research laboratories, discover cutting-edge projects and learn about the opportunities offered by the regional system.
Throughout March, April, and May, more than 100 participants embarked on a true journey through the nerve centers of innovation in Romagna. The program, rich and stimulating, included visits to various Technopole locations, each with a specific focus:
- On March 25th, in Faenza, students explored the surprising applications of ceramics by visiting the laboratories of CNR, ENEA, and CERTIMAC.
- On April 2nd, in Rimini, the theme was “research paths in sustainability”, through the experiences of the local Technopole and the laboratories of CIRI MAM and CIRI FRAME.
- On April 14th, in Forlì, participants immersed themselves in aerospace topics, from “fluid dynamics to space”, discovering innovations in flight and propulsion during a visit to the Ciclope Laboratory.
- On May 7th, in Cesena, the focus was on food innovation, with a program that led participants on a guided tour of the Macfrut trade fair, where they met with companies involved in projects with the Technopole.
- On May 9th, in Marina di Ravenna, attention turned to “innovative circular economy practices”, through meetings with researchers from CIRI FRAME and CIRI SDV, who presented their current projects.
- Finally, on May 21st, a second edition of the Faenza visit took place, replicated due to high student demand and with the generous support of staff from CNR, CIRI MAM, and CERTIMAC.
Each study visit was met with great interest and followed a well-established format: a welcome and introduction to the relevant Technopole, followed by a guided tour of the laboratories accompanied by experts and researchers. The opportunities offered by ER.GO, ART-ER and the partner organisations were also presented, concluding with a networking session that encouraged discussion and the exchange of ideas between students and research professionals.
The initiative proved to be a valuable opportunity for young talents eager to deepen the link between academic research and its industrial applications, directly exploring the places where innovation is developed. The feedback from the participants was extremely positive, underlining the importance of such experiences to guide their own study and career paths.
All the organisers were satisfied with the success of the cycle of visits and the enthusiasm shown. They confirmed the value of initiatives that bring students closer to the future of research in Emilia-Romagna and their willingness to continue working together in this direction.
