Poland holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union

On 1st January 2025 Poland took over the presidency of the Council of the European Union for six months

Poland takes over the presidency of the Council of the European Union for the second time. Thirteen years after the first Polish presidency, and twenty years after joining the EU, Poland presents its presidency programme where the main goal is to implement the priorities set around the topic of security in its many dimensions: external, internal, information, economic, energy, food, and health.

The programme of the Polish Presidency is structured around seven priorities:

  • Defense and security
  • Protection of people and borders
  • Resistance to foreign interference and disinformation 
  • Ensuring security and freedom of business
  • Energy transition
  • Competitive and resilient agriculture 
  • Health security
