Rimini will host the European Robotics Forum – ERF 2024
March, 13 - 15 | Rimini Conference Center
The European Robotics Forum 2024, one of the most important international robotics congresses, attracting hundreds of participants, will take place in Rimini from 13th – 15th March 2024. The bid, supported by the University of Bologna, AIM Group International, the Municipality of Rimini and the Palacongressi Rimini Conference Center of the Italian Exhibition Group, succeeded in bringing this important annual event to Italy, beating major European competitors.
The event will see the leading experts, both academic and industrial, at international level in robotics come together in the vibrant city of Rimini and will see the presence of the major European companies with interests in this field. The forum has a unique structure and is specifically designed to encourage interaction between end-users, researchers, technology producers with the ultimate goal of improving industrial competitiveness, fostering scientific progress, stimulating networking between stakeholders in the field, and identifying new impactful application scenarios for robotics. The programme of the event is really rich and will touch many industrial and research fields where robotics plays a key role. Having this audience of experts all gathered in Italy is truly an exceptional event that we believe can be a driving force for the competitiveness of the entire territory.
The event will take place at the Convention Centre in Rimini and will be enriched with an intense social activity to foster the exchange of ideas, revive old friendships and create new ones. A large exhibition area at the convention centre will be available to those who wish to display their technologies and ideas, representing a true international showcase.
The decision to select Rimini was ratified by the international association euRobotics aisbl. The Association’s objectives are to promote research, development and innovation in the robotics field, to create economic and societal benefits. The Forum brings together engineers and researchers in a highly interactive meeting which promotes open discussion: rather than adopting a rigid congress format with many didactic sessions, it is an engaging forum designed to foster the sharing of experience, knowledge and practice.
In recent years, ERF has been held in Slovenia, the United Kingdom, Finland, Romania, Spain and the Netherlands. Destinations such as France, Norway and Germany were shortlisted for 2024. Bringing the Forum to Rimini was challenging given that the it has previously been held in Italy three times (Rovereto 2014, Palermo 2006, Pisa 2002).
The dossier submitted in support of the bid not only outlined the suitability of the destination and infrastructure but also highlighted the important presence of a series of advanced industrial districts (automotive, wellness, food, packaging and big data), strongly related to robotics, within the Emilia-Romagna region. The Forum’s planned scientific program will include a series of technical visits to companies in these supply chains.
