Technopoles Study Visits 2025: final stops in Cesena and Marina di Ravenna

University of Bologna students discover innovations in food technology and circular economy within the Romagna Technopoles

Following the first stops in Faenza, Rimini, and Forlì, students and PhD candidates from the University of Bologna recently had the opportunity to participate in the final two events of the Technopoles Study Visits programme. Organised by ER.GOART-ERFondazione FlaminiaSerinar and UniRimini the programme connects students with Romagna’s leading research centres and innovation ecosystems.

May 7th – Cesena | Food Innovation: from the Technopole to Macfrut

The visit in Cesena started at the CIRI Agroalimentare within the Technopole of Cesena, where participants explored emerging technologies for food processing and stabilization, as well as innovative solutions for valorising food by-products. The day continued at Macfrut, the international trade fair dedicated to the fruit and vegetable supply chain. Students visited the Healthy Food area, attended cooking shows and public outreach events, and met companies driving innovation in the agri-food sector.

May 9th – Marina di Ravenna | Circular economy and marine innovation

The programme’s final event took place at the Environment, Energy and Marine Research Centre in Marina di Ravenna. Students discovered the work of two key laboratories: FIP-WE@UNIBO, focusing on environmental and marine research, and EnerCube, dedicated to sustainable energy solutions. Presentations and lab tours showcased practical applications of circular economy models and interdisciplinary research in energy and environmental science.
